From VH1 Celebrity 6/11/12
Like Keira Knightley, Steve Carell did a lot of thinking about his own hypothetical reaction to the apocalypse while making Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. But we almost stumped him when we asked what the first thing he’d stop doing if there were only three weeks left for mankind.
“I don’t know why the first thing I thought of was brushing my teeth, but that’s just disgusting!” he told VH1. “I don’t know what’s the point of stopping [that]. You know, you can’t worry about cavities, but I would definitely keep up hygiene.”
With a little more time to think about his answer, Carell got more sentimental. “I guess I’d stop worrying about the little things,” he said. “And I think that’s part of what the movie talks about, is people get so caught up with the minutia of life, they don’t see the bigger picture of what’s important, human connections and the fun of it all.”
We’d be really disappointed if the world ended so early — especially given the dozens of Steve Carell movies we have to look forward to, including Anchorman: The Legend Continues. The actor told us why he couldn’t wait to get back on set with the original Channel 4 News Team. “It’s because for each of us [Anchorman] was one of the most fun experiences any of us had ever had, professionally or otherwise. I laughed until I cried every day on that set, so I think we’re all kind of looking forward to that.”
